Excessively using the slow request

Why am I getting the following message. I thought the pro plan came with unlimited slow requests

Below is the text from Cursor:
Once you’ve exhausted your 500 monthly requests, Cursor will continue to serve you premium model requests, but may delay response time and/or limit access to some models when the platform is under high load.

Another shady update that fanboys will get over. Good thing competition is coming lol

Got a reply from them:

This message appears when you’ve been using a high number of slow requests. While slow requests are unlimited, excessive usage can lead to longer wait times (2-5 minutes per request).

To improve your experience, you can:

  • Try again in 30 minutes when the system load might be lower
  • Upgrade to Cursor Pro at Pricing | Cursor - The AI Code Editor for 500 fast requests per month
  • Enable usage-based pricing in settings for pay-as-you-go access to fast requests

I’m pretty sure this is a new update, I don’t mind waiting on queue on slow request, but this outright stopping you and you can’t use any model except for 4o mini, time to shop

Since I was using the Web version of Claude before Cursor, and it’d put me on timeout for a few hours now and then once I’ve used too many chat messages, I’m sorta proactively used to this. Granted I’m a causal hobby programmer, none of what I’m doing is for my job, so I have no complaints if every query I did was slow. It’s still better than “come back a few hours from now”. And Cursor sure beats copy/pasting to the web browser all the time.

Perhaps for better user experience it should say something more like “slow requests are under heavy demand at the moment and may be slower than usual” and then just make them as slow as needed given capacity. Vs implying the user is doing something wrong or abusive.
