“Launch week” did NOT mean 1 whole week..

Today we sent out an email that it GPT-5 is free through 13th August until midnight.
It should be free until all the issues are fixed. It still doesn’t use tools properly, or the terminal. It takes 5 requests to do one thing because it stops after every requests and asks things, which is fine but not when it’s the cost it is. 1 request cost like gemini would be more acceptable but 2 is a bit much considering it’s not fully able to use everything yet. Maybe 0.5 requests or something like that

We’re continuing our free promotional use of GPT-5 through Wednesday, August 13 at midnight PT.

Maybe they extended. The jumping number is a bit suspicious TBH.
Wed midnight is correct, just another bug fixed..
We did have a small bug which affected a tiny subset of users (less than 500) which caused their usage to consume requests or usage allowance.
That usage has been reversed for all users. Any issues or concerns, drop us an email to [email protected]!

I saw: “The GPT-5 promotional period has ended. All GPT-5 requests will now consume included usage or be billed at API prices. No other action is required; please resubmit to continue using GPT-5 or switch to the model of your choice.” inside the cursor
