Grok Bot 0.30.0 Windows — Can’t reach computer after failed Reset (partial state); bots visible, VM won’t connect

Grok Bot desktop 0.30.0 Stable on Windows 11.

This morning the agent computer froze. I ran Reset Grok Bot’s Computer. It stuck on “Wiping your data,” then failed with:

“Reset failed. The reset couldn’t finish. Grok Bot’s computer may be in a partial state.”

After that the app showed the first-run “Create your first Bot” screen with no chats. I fully quit, signed out/in, and used Recover (not another Reset). The sidebar bots came back (LIFE BOT, God View, Chase, Morgan, Rex, etc.) but I still get:

“Couldn’t Reach Grok Bot’s Computer — Your Bots, files, and logins are safe.”

Retry does nothing. I have not run Reset again.

Network checks:

  • Set adapter DNS to 1.1.1.1 / 8.8.8.8, IPv6 DNS off
  • nslookup test.us8.cursorvm.com 1.1.1.1 succeeds (16.58.116.176, 3.139.242.47, 18.224.163.213)

Please check whether my agent computer is healthy on your side and clear the stuck reset/recover job. I can confirm on phone/hotspot if needed.

Does this stop you from using Cursor?

  • Yes - Cursor is unusable

  • No - Cursor works, but with this issue

The more details you provide, the easier it is for us to reproduce and fix the issue. Thanks!

curl -I https://test.us8.cursorvm.com returns HTTP/1.1 404 from awselb/2.0
DNS and HTTPS to *.cursorvm.com both work. The firewall/Zscaler message looks like a false generic error after the partial reset.

Filling in the template here.

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Something else — Grok Bot desktop (Agent Computer)

Describe the Bug
Grok Bot 0.30.0 Stable on Windows 11 cannot reach the Agent Computer after a failed Reset.

Reset hung on “Wiping your data,” then: Reset failed. The reset couldn’t finish. Grok Bot’s computer may be in a partial state.

The app then showed first-run “Create your first Bot / No chats yet.” After full quit, sign-out/in, and Recover, sidebar bots came back, but the computer still will not connect. The app also shows the generic firewall / VPN / Zscaler blocking message for the Agent Computer domain.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Agent Computer froze.
  2. Settings → Updates → Reset Grok Bot’s Computer.
  3. Reset stuck on wiping data, then partial-state failure.
  4. App showed empty first-run UI.
  5. Fully quit, sign out/in, Recover (did not Reset again).
  6. Bots reappear in the sidebar. Retry still cannot reach the computer.

Expected Behavior
Recover should reconnect to the existing Agent Computer. First-run UI should not appear when bots already exist. The firewall warning should not show when HTTPS to the Agent Computer domain already works.

Screenshots / Screen Recordings
I can attach: reset-failed dialog, empty first-run screen, couldn’t-reach dialog, firewall warning screen, curl output.

Operating System
Windows 10/11 (Windows 11, 10.0.26200)

Version Information
Grok Bot desktop 0.30.0 Stable
Not Cursor IDE.

For AI issues: which model did you use?
N/A

Additional Information
DNS set to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8, IPv6 DNS off.
Lookup of the published Agent Computer test host via 1.1.1.1 succeeds (16.58.116.176, 3.139.242.47, 18.224.163.213).
curl -I to that same host over HTTPS returns HTTP/1.1 404 from awselb/2.0.
Network to the Agent Computer domain works. Please check the Agent Computer on your side and clear the stuck reset job.

Hi @im_grok Sorry about this, I’m investigating this and checking on a few things internally and I expect to have an update to share shortly.

Thank you!
