Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @Ronnie_O, thanks for the report!

The team is aware of a display issue in the Grok Bot desktop app on Windows where the chat redraws itself every time a new message comes in, and what you describe sounds like the same thing. I’ve passed your report along.

Could you try these steps and tell me what you see?

  1. Open Grok Bot and open a chat with one of your Bots.
  2. Open the Computer view next to the chat, like you normally do.
  3. Send a short message and watch the chat while the Bot replies.
  4. Close the Computer view.
  5. Send another short message and watch the chat again.

Does the flicker happen in both step 3 and step 5, or only while the Computer view is open?

Also, could you check your Windows display scale (Windows Settings > System > Display > Scale) and tell me what it’s set to? If it’s 100% or 125%, try switching it to 150% for a moment and repeat step 3. If the flicker goes away at 150%, that confirms what we suspect, and it can work around the issue for now.

A short screen recording of the flicker would also help a lot.

Thank you for your reply.

I’ll wait till there is a fix. I don’t want to work with a workaround.

I’m experiencing this issue.

I’m on Windows 11 using 4 screens.

1: 1920x1200 - 125%
2: 1920x1080 - 100%
3: 1920x1080 - 100%
4: 1366x768 - 100%

I’m using an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (with nvidia RTX 4060 Laptop GPU and Intel UHD Graphics), I tried switching between them for Grok Bot but the issue persisted on both. I’m currently using the high performance option (the nvidia one)

I’m going to test on screen 2.

Opened it, the screen was not fully drawn, there was a lot of white space with messages revealing as I move the cursor over the white space

I opened the right sidebar, it was on Computer tab, the computer was sleeping, but opening it made the window draw everything that was missing

The message updated normally. The bot animation (the one that appears above the text input bar when the bot is thinking or doing stuff) was frozen, moving the mouse above it makes it update, the faster I move making circles the faster it goes through the animation frames. The bot reply appeared normally.

I closed the right sidebar, it disappeared as expected, I couldn’t notice any glitch at this move.

I noticed the same glitch, but moving the mouse cursor over it made it update only one frame at like 1 second instead of each pixel moved on the screen

Changed to 150%. Everything is zoomed in as expected. I switched between bots and chat groups but I couldn’t see unrendered areas this time. The right sidebar is closed.

Sent a message, I noticed that the animation is actually updating when I mouse over a message and the options appears and disappears (react, reply, and ...)

Opened again, the computer is awaken now, no glitch noticed.

Sent a message and I got the exact behavior as my last step (my be I was moving over and out the text chat when I was on 100% and I didn’t notice, so that made the animation speed up since it’s drawing frames only when something changes on the UI)

it closed normally

No flickering again, but the animation in fact only update when I move over and out the last bot reply

Changed back to 100% with the right sidebar closed, changing between bots and chats makes the rendering fail again (chat area is fully white, moving the mouse over it make the messages get partially revealed)

Hey @Polyana, thanks for running through all of those steps and for the details about your monitors.

What you describe matches an issue we’re tracking in the Grok Bot desktop app on Windows. The chat is ready, but the window doesn’t redraw it until something forces a repaint, like hovering, scrolling, resizing, switching chats, or opening the Computer panel. Your result at 150% display scale is a useful clue. I’ve added your report to the issue and passed that along to the team.

Until there’s a fix, any of these should bring the chat back when it comes up blank:

  • Scroll once in the chat, or resize the window.
  • Open the Computer panel on the right, which redraws the whole window.
  • If it’s comfortable for you, keep the Grok Bot window on a screen set to 150% scale.

The frozen “working” animation above the message box looks like a separate clue, since you saw it at 150% too. If you have a moment, could you try this:

  1. Unplug the external screens so only the laptop screen is connected.
  2. Open Grok Bot and send a short message to one of your Bots.
  3. Watch the animation above the message box without moving the mouse.

Does the animation keep moving on its own, or does it still freeze until you move the mouse?
