The app starts normally: for 2–3 seconds the full UI is visible (bot list, chat loading, “Computer is sleeping” panel). As soon as a chat that contains images starts rendering, the window turns black and stops responding. It never recovers — only killing the process helps.
Chats without images open fine. The same account and the same chats work normally on my phone.
Steps to Reproduce
Launch Grok Bot on Windows.
Open (or have last-opened) any bot chat that contains images.
Within a few seconds the window goes black / “Not responding”.
Expected Behavior
Chats with images should render normally, as on mobile.
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Version Information
0.78.1
For AI issues: which model did you use?
What I already tried
Launched with --disable-gpu — no change
Cleared local data (renamed %APPDATA%\Grok Bot) and signed in again — no change
Deleted the bot whose chat triggered it first — now any other chat with images freezes the same way
VPN on/off — no change
Windows Event Viewer has no crash/hang entries for Grok Bot
~/.grokbot/local-exec-daemon.log shows normal connections (connected in ~200–700 ms, no errors today)
Additional Information
Report file with logs attached. The local computer and the hosted computer connect fine; the problem seems to be only in rendering images in the desktop window.

Does this stop you from using Cursor?
Yes - Cursor is unusable
Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor
No - Cursor works, but with this issue
The more details you provide, the easier it is for us to reproduce and fix the issue. Thanks!
Hey @Veronika!
This one’s on our side, not your setup, which is why clearing data, disabling the GPU, and the VPN toggle didn’t change anything, and why mobile is fine. A fix just went out in 0.78.3 (released today). Grab the latest Windows build from ! https://x.ai/bot and image chats should render normally again. If it still freezes after updating, reply here and I’ll take another look. @globe_Show, same fix applies to you.
