"Grok Code" is gone. Bring it back?

Hey guys. Not sure if this is a bug on my machine or the model was phased out.
“Grok Code” is gone.
It was a budget workhorse and i think it would be nice to have the option.

Sometimes Cursor quietly removes models from the default list due to “low usage” without updating the docs. This was confirmed in this forum post.

The fix is to add it back manually as a custom model.

Go to Cursor Settings → Models → scroll to “Add Model” at the bottom and type in the model ID. You’ll need the exact model string. For Grok, the IDs follow xAI’s naming convention — e.g. grok-4-0709, grok-4-fast, etc.

To find the current correct model IDs, you can check xAI’s docs directly — they maintain a list of valid model names for use with Cursor under their “Use with Code Editors” guide at docs.x.ai.

Once added, it draws from your Cursor credits just like any native model.

Hi Chris.

Appreciate your input. :ok_hand:
Been able to bring it back with custom model: grok-code-fast-1

I tried to add this model : grok-code-fast-1, but it doesn’t work.
