Hi @nhog thanks for the report, and sorry about this.

What you saw is the automatic update of your Grok Bot’s computer. It builds a fresh computer and copies your data over, and that copy step has been getting stuck for some people over the last couple of days. Your existing computer, bots and files are untouched while it runs, so nothing was lost.

On our side the update for your account gave up at about 2:22 PM your time (roughly 20 minutes after your screenshot), the dialog should have cleared, and your bots should be back on the computer you had before. The team has since rolled out a change for the stuck copy step, so a future update should go through normally.

Two things worth knowing:

  1. Please don’t press Reset if it happens again. It isn’t needed and it wipes the computer. Giving the update about an hour to finish or give up on its own is the safe move.
  2. The Grok Bot mobile app keeps working during an update, since only the desktop is covered by that dialog.

Could you confirm your bots are responding again? If the dialog comes back or a bot is still stuck, reply here and I’ll take another look.

Same issue stuck at 43% And i have no way to clear it

Having the same issue as well.

Same exact issue here. Haven’t been able to update the bot computer in about two weeks.

Hi @Mister_Deed, sorry for the wait. Your Grok Bot’s computer finished updating a few minutes ago with your bots and files intact, so if the dialog is still showing, fully quit and reopen Grok Bot, and let me know if anything still looks stuck.

Hi @Raymond_Bell, sorry for the wait. Your Grok Bot’s computer finished updating this afternoon with your bots and files intact, so if the dialog is still showing, fully quit and reopen Grok Bot and let me know if anything still looks stuck.

Same issue here

Yes I had to let it sit overnight to update the VMs.

@Move Hi there, sorry about this I’m checking on your box and there appears to be issue with the update. will keep you posted. If for some reason things come back and are working for you please let me know. Otherwise we will continue to push this forward on our side.

Hi, I am having the same issue. It’s been going on for hours; possibly since yesterday evening.

I’m stuck in a loop. Please help.

UPDATE: fixed.

Update: fixed. Thank you.

@kevinn I still cannot update the machine - it gets stuck at 43%. There is also no way of recovering- I get a prompt saying that Grok is unable to recover the machine. Eventually the computer loads, but the websites in Chrome don’t load with ERR_TIMED_OUT.

This is what the bot says: "Chrome is timing out because every browser tab goes through the box egress tunnel at 127.0.0.1:8791, and that tunnel is wedged. […] The tunnel process has been up ~8 days, its accept queue is backed up, and it hasn’t logged since Sep 17. […]

I can’t safely repair that tunnel from here. The fix is Update Grok Bot’s Computer — fresh instance, keeps files and logins."

Currently, the bots are pretty much unusable for me cause I’m unable to update the grok machine.

Hi there, i am also having the same issue @kevinn tried exiting and reopening doesnt work. No option yet to recover also.

Hi @Alertcubes, thanks for the report, and sorry for the hassle. The update on your Grok Bot’s computer wasn’t able to finish, and it stopped on its own a few minutes after your post. Your existing computer, bots, and files weren’t affected, and we can see it running normally.

Please fully quit Grok Bot (including from the system tray) and reopen it. The update screen should be gone and your bots should respond as usual.

  1. Please don’t press Reset. It isn’t needed here.
  2. If Grok Bot offers the computer update again, it’s fine to skip it for now.

Hi @GabiG, quick update. We cleared the leftover second computer that was blocking Update and Recover, and we tried moving you to a fresh computer from our side. That move didn’t finish, because it needs Grok Bot to stay closed on all your devices while your data copies over.

Your bots and files are still on your current computer and nothing was lost. If you see an “Updating Grok Bot’s Computer” screen, it will clear on its own within about an hour. Please don’t press Update, Recover, or Reset in the meantime.

To finish the move:

  1. Any time after 5:30 PM Pacific today, when you have about 45 minutes free, fully quit Grok Bot on your Mac (including the menu bar icon) and close it on your iPhone.
  2. Reply here to let me know, and keep it closed until I post that it’s done.

Hi Kevin @kevinn, thank you for responding. I completely closed the Grok Bot apps on both my MacBook and my phone. I’ll not reopen them until you say I’m good to go.

yes, i saw it worked. Should i avoid updating for now?

same issue :frowning: stuck on 43%

Hi @GabiG The wait is over! Your Grok bot box is fully updated and working fine. Please let us know if anything else comes up.
