Has 1M context on Opus 4.6 etc been removed?

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Up until yesteday I was able to use 4.6 Opus and I believe Gemini 3.0 with up to 1M context window - this was amazingly useful for certain tasks (expensive, but well worth it). But since I updated yesterday, I’m no longer able to see the 1M context mode on any Opus variants (nor Gemini 3.0). The MAX models also seem to have a 200K context cap. Is there something I can do to enable this again?? It’s made it way harder for certain use cases.

Steps to Reproduce

Hovering over all models in the model selector in the Agent pane in the IDE - it now shows 200K context window where it used to show 1M.

Expected Behavior

1M context

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Opus 4.6, Gemini 3.0

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

hi @armstrong the 1M context is still available in MAX mode. Note that “Max” model is for reasoning and not the MAX mode with 1M context

As this is not a bug I have moved your post to the appropriate category.
