Heads-up: Pro → Pro+ mid-cycle refund is usage-based (not unused days)

Sharing a billing heads-up for others considering a mid-cycle Pro → Pro+ upgrade.
Not asking for a refund here (already closed with billing support by email).

What happened

I upgraded monthly Pro ($20) → Pro+ ($60) after the Pro usage allowance was already consumed, then asked Billing about a prorated refund for the remaining Pro calendar days.

What forum guidance said

In older Help threads (titles like “Understanding the Pro to Pro+ upgrade process” and “Is upgrading from Pro to Pro+ prorated?”), staff wrote that upgrade proration is based on unused calendar days, not on included usage already spent.

Those threads are a bit different from my case (annual remaining-time vs monthly usage-exhausted), but that is where the “unused days” wording appears.

What Billing actually said

Billing support confirmed twice by email:

  • Upgrade refunds are based on usage
  • If Pro monthly usage was already consumed, no refund
  • Applies to all customers; cannot be overridden

So the common path “hit Pro limit → upgrade to Pro+” did not get a day-based refund in my case.

Why posting

Just so others don’t rely on the older “unused days” forum wording when planning an upgrade. It would help if Help Center / staff guidance matched Billing’s usage-based rule.
