Heavy lag while using Cursor

I always experience a lot of lag when using Cursor and I’m not sure why. Is it because of the AI pane keeping all of my chats? I have a bunch of extensions installed as well, but they’re basically the same extensions transferred over from VScode and I don’t experience any lag with VScode.

If there’s anything else I need to share to get to the bottom of this issue, please just let me know. Thank you!

same issue on my mac m3 pro

I am getting the same issue. the IDE becomes completely unusable after a while.

This is happening to me as well.

Is it because of the AI pane keeping all of my chats?

I actually also suspect this is the issue. I didn’t have any problems like this until a couple weeks ago when I was working with a ~15-20k line JSON file and tried to use Cursor AI pane window to parse it. Ended up freezing when I pasted it in. Since then I’ve had lag problems - I wonder if all of the histories are cached in memory or something and it’s causing problems.

I’m going to try deleting last month of history using this button in history pane:

Deleting my entire chat and composer history fixed my Cursor window lagginess (I also killed/restarted all my in-window terminals before this as the first attempt).

There were a few items that took a while to delete. And clicking delete on one specific recent one lagged the window out for about a minute (it was a long convo, though some others were too).

TLDR deleting all my Cursor chat/composer histories fixed immense cursor window lag.
