please add a feature to disable preventive cursor updates. Every week I have to get confused about another new UI change or suffer from dev’s team “experimentation”. I get used to most of the updates, and I even like it from a distance, but when I have to relearn every day to change the chat button and menu position, it’s just SUFFERING. I would update 1-2 times a month and that’s it.
You know you can turn off the updates if you dont want to download them.
Yeah but Cursor will still force you to update for major versions. See: Wait... Cursor 1.7 Now No Longer Works At All?
Hey, thanks for the feedback.
Cursor already lets you control updates via the Update: Mode setting. Open Application settings CMD/CTRL + ,, search for “Update”, and change the mode from “default” to:
- “none” to fully disable auto-updates
- “manual” to show a notification, but not update automatically
thx you ![]()
It will only force an update if you’re using a deprecated version of the software that is no longer supported, hence why the update.
I hate ALL Cursor updates. I want Cursor as it was 1 year ago.
Cursor as it was a year ago is Windsurf. I switched a week ago — it’s a bit simpler, and it’s exactly the Cursor I loved.
I have a paid annual pro subscription. As soon as it expires I am considering exploring alternatives, and hopefully, I will switch too.
fix this garbage force update or you lose $1000+/mo from me and my dev team this is absolute nonsense - it is way too frequent now.
this doesnt solve FYI
