It says 'Pro Trial' but I don't have access to Pro featurers

Describe the Bug

Hii, this is my first time using Cursor. After signing up and downloading the app, I opened it and went to Setting. There, I can see my Pro Trial is active because it says so under my email address.

Then, I wanted to try my first Cursor prompt. I selected the premium model Claude Sonnet 4. Unfortunately, when I click send, here’s what I got:

Anthropic’s latest models are currently only available to paid users. Please upgrade to a paid plan to use these models.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Sign up an account using Github
  2. Download the latest Linux AppImage version (v1.1)
  3. Launch the app and login
  4. Check the settings to confirm Pro Trial
  5. Try to use a premium model (e.g., Sonnet 4)

Expected Behavior

Have access to premium models

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

My friend, who is trying Cursor on my recommendation, also complained about this bug (is it really a bug?).

Same here - testing out several offerings to make a purchase, read good things about cursor, only to find out this very fishy behavior.
Not sure how i feel about what seems to me as potentially false advertising, add insult to injury, seems like messages on this topic are just ignored.
Think i will stay away from it for now (shame, started testing with Claude 3.7 when it failed and i tried switching to 4. was working well until then).

What the hell. Cursor should’ve renamed the name of the plan, then. What else would “Pro Trial” even mean. :man_facepalming:

Yeah it’s such a shame. I’ve been hearing good things about it too. It’s now basically the de-facto standard for agent-powered IDE aside from Windsurf. I’m not sure if I wanna trust my money to a company who use such dirty marketing tactics.
