I updated Cursor just now to 2.4.31. When I opened it up, my AI Chat panel is on the left and my files and folders (Explorer) is on the far right. This is the exact opposite of how I’ve always used the IDE.
How difficult is it to not jack with people’s customizations on update? That’s a rhetorical question… I’m a Software Architect and I know exactly how easy it is to not anger users by completely changing their layouts and customizations on update - it’s incredibly easy.
When Cursor continues to waste my time on every single update, it makes me want to leave. I think I’m going to try Claude Code and try both side-by-side for a month. It’s hard to imagine other IDEs are so callous when it comes to wasting their user’s time.
