UI changes in today's update

Would somebody kindly explain why the UI elements keep moving with every cursor update?

Dear Cursor team, please stop making these changes. The UI changes every few weeks and I’m sure that at least somewhat bothers the workflow of most of your user base. Next time you get a “brilliant” new UI idea do it as a disabled by default setting then suggest it, don’t just enable it for everyone.

Now, is there a setting to get the hovering changes overview floaty thing back to the bottom of my screen where it belongs instead of the farthest top-right reaches of my monitor?

Can anyone at least please confirm that this is a change that happened with the recent update, or is there a setting or a bug on my side that I can’t seem to find and fix?

You’re lucky. The UI elements I need usually disappear altogether.

Oh wow it’s even worse than i initially thought, this is how an AI editor whose whole point is integrating AI into a code editor presents pending changes in a different file than you are currently looking at:

Tiny, uncolored line of text in a corner? Sheesh. I considered the prominent floating “pending changes” bar being in my face a very useful feature. AI code suggestions is why we’re all here in the first place, isn’t it? Why hide it like that?

I’m truly baffled by this change.

Is it possible to revert to an older version? I’m okay staying on an old version of cursor forever as long as the agents still work, if the current design is the alternative…

It’s happening again, started today. Identical issue as last time. Switching between the two layouts does not help.

Please for the love of god stop making unnecessary, forced UI changes.

They got rid of the ability to toggle the layout to editor classic, not the undo/keep buttons are always in top right of file.

Why do they keep pushing this terrible UI change?

Who benefits from not clearly seeing that there are pending file changes?

Apparently there’s a setting, although I can’t find it on my version: Recurring Bug: “Pending Changes” Bar Moved to an Awkward Top-Right Position - #5 by deanrie

I found a workaround today.

Here it seem you can actually download previous versions of Cursor:

I downloaded v2.5, unistalled current version, installed v2.5, and set Updates to Manual under VSCode Settings → search by “update“.

All these breaking changes in the UI really affected my workflow a lot.

I will happily use v2.5 without updating for as long as it is supported, I really need to know that today my editor works exactly like yesterday.

Vibe coders who just want to accept all and maybe scan through the review page.
