Please stop messing with the layouts and the chat button

Every update, you keep on trying to push your layout updates and stupid ideas to push us to use agent view or any other layout update I’m sure a crazy PM thinks all users want.

THAT COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!

Please, leave the chat panel button visible in the menu bar, stop trying to impose your layouts and just stick to vscode as much as you can in terms of look and feel. Stop disrupting workflows and fire those PMs if you don’t want to end up like postman…

Are we making too many changes too quickly?

Hey, I see your frustration with the layout changes. The team is collecting all UI and layout feedback in this megathread: [Megathread] Cursor layout and UI feedback

There are already 290+ comments with similar complaints, including forced layout resets after updates and UI elements disappearing.

About the chat button specifically, it was intentionally removed in v2.3 in the Agent layout. Alternatives:

  • CTRL+ALT+B to toggle the chat panel
  • CTRL+E to switch to the Editor layout, the button is there
  • The gear icon (top right) to set up a custom layout

I know this isn’t a replacement for the button you’re used to. Your feedback will really help if you leave it in the megathread, the team is watching it.
