Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Describe the Bug

After the latest update, it stopped creating any files via SSH, giving a file not found error. It’s similar to the previous bug, but I can’t use the IDE right now. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hey, thanks for the report.

It looks like an extensions issue. Please check:

  1. Which SSH extension is installed
  • Remove Microsoft “Remote - SSH”
  • Install and use “Anysphere Remote SSH”
  • Restart Cursor
  1. Please share:
  • The exact error text and a screenshot
  • How you create the file: Explorer New File, saving from the editor, or an AI action
  • The remote host OS and an example path where the error reproduces
  • Logs: View → Output → select the SSH extension channel (Remote - SSH), reproduce the error, and share the relevant lines
  • Errors from Developer Tools: Help → Toggle Developer Tools → Console

This will help us quickly pinpoint the regression in 2.1.48. Let me know if switching to Anysphere Remote SSH resolves the issue.

I’ am already using anysphere’s SSH plugin. im gettign this error when AI creates file. its stucking with loading icon. and if i try to reach the file, cursor says “file not found”

I’m having the same issue starting from yesterday. The agents stuck on creating new files. I’m using Windows 11

This happen to me also. When it needed to create the file, it just keep spinning.

I’m having same issue too.Also using windows 11 and cursor version 2.1.49.I used plan mode and when built that need to create new file ,but it shows “file not found“ and i tried change models(composer1 , codex max,codex max ultra etc ..) it doesn’t work.

I updated some minutes ago but still having the same issue. I have no extensions related to ssh, only linters and stuff.

What platform are you on? Can you share a request ID? Windows?

I am experiencing the same. Cursor cannot create new files on Windows. This makes the recent updates unusable.

this is not working.
the bug persists even with disabled Microsoft “Remote - SSH”
I am having the bug from version 2.1.47 upwards - in version 2.1.47 the agent asks for permission to create the file even if he has full access, but it can still create files after giving the access via “accept”.

I’m on Windows Version 10.0.26100 comp. 26100 (Windows 11 Pro)

Closing the IDE and opening it again sometimes makes the “accept” button appear. It doesn’t create files but also doesn’t show the manual accept buttons that’s why it’s kind of big deal.

Still same, agent cant even run commands for docker. cursor settings/agent disable external file protection fixed “confrim” thing but agent cant run commands anymore.

Same here : Agent can’t create or update any file, and cannot use terminal (every command fails with status -1). It’s been the case for 4 days now…

Yes - Cursor is usable but agent is totally useless.

It is the same for me since 3 days (not directly related to SSH, just an IDE issue). Looks like this:

Also todo’s are no longer updated.

Considering this is a ground-breaking issue, the silence is concerning. Their status page says all running smoothly. Can’t create ANY Files.

The same issue appeared to me as well a few days ago. I thought they would fix this quickly, though. I am on Windows 11
