Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Describe the Bug

It’s an old bug but it is still happening, if you update cursor you are unable to open old chats

Steps to Reproduce

Update cursor to a higher version
Try to open any old chat, it keeps loading forever

Expected Behavior

Chat should open normally

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Version: 2.2.17 (user setup)

Does this stop you from using Cursor

What should I do if all the historical records are gone?

Thanks for the report - I’ll merge this with similar reports and share it with the team. The staff are actively working on a fix with major safety guardrails that should be released soon.
