I sometimes use the features that allows your to send the same question/task/prompt to multiple models (and run the agents in parallel).
Often, the agents will require user input (allow them to search, fetch, or execute something).
In the past, once this happens a notification will appear by the cursor icon in the menu bar. Now that does not happen or happens rarely.
Steps to Reproduce
Submit a query and select few models in the chat/agent interface.
Expected Behavior
Once an agent needs user input or is done processing, i expect the old behavior to be restored (notification)
First thing to check: system notifications in Cursor are off by default and you need to turn them on manually. Go to Settings > Notifications > System Notifications and make sure it’s enabled. Sometimes updates reset this setting.
One more important detail: on macOS, notifications only fire when the Cursor window isn’t focused. If you’re in Cursor (even on another agent tab), you won’t get an OS notification. You’ll only see the orange dot on the chat tab.
If the setting is already on and notifications still don’t show up reliably, this is a known issue with notification reliability. The team is aware, but there’s no specific ETA for a fix yet.
Yes indeed, i should have mentioned - this does happen also when the Cursor window is not in focus.
The tricky part is, that this is currently flaky (sometimes, it works as expected, sometimes there are no notifications).
I can confirm that the settings are correct (notifications on etc.).
This might be indeed that known issue you referenced.
Thank you for getting back to me. Would appreciate an update if this moves forward in any way (or if there is another thread that I should monitor).
