Missing Chat History

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I am creating another topic on this as well despite seeing many others on the issue because all the topics are closed/unresolved.

I was working in a Cursor chat last night, tailoring an implementation plan for the documentation of a feature. I was in the process of asking it to revise things prior to creating a markdown file with the final plan.

I now open Cursor again, to finalize the chat and the entire chat history is gone. I am a pro user and use the latest Cursor version.

I keep seeing some guy saying how chat histories aren’t meant to be permanent, which I get, but at least keep the last 10 in history or keep a chat saved for 10 days after it has last been updated?

It would have been good to know this before I spent an hour working on this chat…

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. The chat history shouldn’t disappear. You may have renamed your project or moved it to a different location on your disk. If that’s the case, try reverting it to the previous name or location on the disk.

Same issue here. Clicked CTA to install Cursor update which restarted the app and automatically re-opened my window, but chat was gone. Window loaded on blank new chat. Not found in chat history either. Although older chats from 3, 4 days ago are visible. No name changes, no low disk space.

Ditto. Mine are visible in the dropdown but I can’t actually access them
