Need Help with Subscription Issues - Unexpected Cancellation & Refund

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going on with my Cursor PRO subscription. Here’s my situation:
First Purchase (Trial Month)
On January 9, 2025, I subscribed to the monthly PRO plan using Credit Card 1 . Everything worked great for that month.
Annual Upgrade
Since I was happy with the service, I upgraded to the annual plan on February 10, 2025, this time using Credit Card 2 . I received a payment confirmation email immediately.
The Problem
Today (February 11), two weird things happened:
My account suddenly reverted to the free version
I received a $20 refund on Credit Card 1 (my original monthly payment card)
This doesn’t make sense because:
My annual payment was $172, not $20
I used a different credit card for the annual payment
There was no warning or explanation
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I’m confused about:
Why I lost PRO access after successful annual payment
Why the refund went to the wrong credit card?

I’m a bit stuck and just want to resolve this. Any advice or steps I might’ve missed? Thanks so much for your help!

Try please to contact Cursor Support by email also, they may be better able to assist with credit card issues that way, but there is no fast way to resolve it as the team is handling many different support requests.

From what you describe it should have worked fine, but its hard to tell because combination of credit card provider and payment system have sometimes issues (not only for Cursor users). Big payment systems accepting credit cards have lots of internal rules to prevent scam or abuse. That caused me often that my CC was not accepted even i entered all info correct. On some sites i had to contact the company for them to unlock my CC, on others it worked without issues.

You described the situation well, so the Cursor team may also see the issue here, but best to write support email for sure.

furthermore, In my case the website denied my bank card when I attempted to re-purchase cursor.

not sure there are real human or ai bots behind the hi@cursor.com, I sent emails and got responses in a few minutes, but didn’t resolve my issue. the last email from cursor just say will ask a teammate to investigate the payment issue more deeply, but after that I didn’t get any update

Exactly the same here! I emailed support email two days ago about my subscription issue but got zero response - not even an automated acknowledgment. At least you got some initial replies! Really frustrating that we can’t even get basic communication about when our issues might be resolved. Hope the team notices these subscription problems are affecting quite a few users.

Update: Just wanted to let everyone know that my Pro access has been restored now. The Cursor team fixed the issue and I got confirmation from them. Thanks for all your help and suggestions! Hope others experiencing similar issues get their problems resolved soon too.

Did they contact you via mail or just restore your account? Did they explain the reason of the cancellation? My issue is still there and hope it could be resolved soon.

They contacted me via email,they said that there seems to be a sync issue between the billing system and my account status.
