No option for composer projects

Hello,

do i have to do something specific to be able to get the composer project feature? when i open the composer window at the bottom left if i click on “create new” i only see option for “new notepad” and “new composer”

in the cursor settings i have no option to enable projects under composer settings.

im i missing a specific flow or something?

thanks!

Hi @prime ,

Are you looking for ‘New AI Project’?

That feature was superseded by Composer.

Composer has gone through a few iterations since then and Notepads are a relatively new feature in Composer, see related release notes here:

https://changelog.cursor.sh/#041—cursor-tab-python-auto-import-composer-improvements-remote-ssh-to-mac-support

I was looking for this too while following a tutorial.

“Projects” make intuitive sense and also matches what what they’re called on Claude.ai
“Notepad” is a place to store ideas, which is what I’ve been using it for.

It’s also a much worse name when searching since Notepad is the name of a text editor on ~1.5 BILLION computers, and every text editor has a cursor.

And it’s not just the name that’s unintuitive.

There’s no way to know what files are referenced after collapsing the tiny + menu, and the whole point seems defeated if they don’t act as a folder for sub-composers (which inherit instructions, docs, file-references etc. from the parent)

At the least it should be possible to drag+drop composers into Projects/Notepads for organization…
