Original chat window gone / can't close

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Sigh Sigh I’m on a Mac. and I opened the cursor IDE yesterday and the AI chat button at the top right is gone. and my screen just shows a chat window. When I open up a file, the chat window stays. phase. I can’t minimize it or close it. I also have no history button in the chat mode. and randomly when I type in files the cursor is somehow stuck in a different file and I update the other file by accident I tried rolling back a couple of minor versions and I get the exact same bugginess. I’m really not even sure where to begin here. I also can’t even open files that were changed in Git by double clicking on them or clicking the open file button so that I can review the changes.

Steps to Reproduce

I I don’t really know what steps to give you because this just started randomly happening yesterday even after making sure I’m on the latest version etc

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report! Could you share a screenshot?

It looks like you have the Agent window open. Try pressing Cmd + E to return to the editor mode.

That fixed it! Thanks! I wonder if it might be helpful to have some kind of indicator that it is in that mode. I appreciate your help!

Any idea where the little symbol went that toggles the chat window?

We’ll fix this in the next version.
