Plan pane not populating

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Plan mode isn’t working well with my agents. It seems to be the local agents with remote control (the only local option for projects) or maybe just any agent in a project except the coordinator. The agent thinks the plan is written, but it doesn’t appear in the plan pane (see screenshot). I’m having it put plans in the chat window instead, but it doesn’t follow them as well.

Steps to Reproduce

Make a project, make a subagent, ask for a plan

Expected Behavior

The plan pane should be populated with the plan

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @Jesse_Hintz, thanks for the report and the screenshot!

This is a known issue with plans created by agents that run on your machine through Remote Control, which is how local agents in a Project run. The plan does get written, but the plan pane can’t load its contents for those agents yet, so it opens empty. This is an issue we’re tracking. I’ll keep you updated on this thread.

In the meantime, this workaround keeps the agent following the plan closely:

  1. Ask the agent to also save the plan as a markdown file in your project folder (for example, plans/ask-sources.md), with the to-dos as a checklist.
  2. When you’re ready to build, tell it: “Implement the plan in plans/ask-sources.md and check off each to-do as you finish it.”

Plans created in a regular local chat, outside a Project, do show up in the plan pane.
