Please provide snap installation for ubuntu

Hi,

I would like to request snap installation for Ubuntu.
It would be great to be able to install cursor editor using simple command line in ubuntu, like this:

snap install cursor-ai-editor

I was able to run the app image on linux, but I really didn’t like the experience of installing / updating.

I am an independent developer and I currently pay $ 10.00 / month for github copilot - I like cursor and I would be willing to pay the $ 20.00 / month you’re asking for the ability of changing multiple files at the same time and for ability of simply say “change this” and just having to accept a bunch of changes. It was really nice.

However, I am not switching at the moment and the reason is the installation. I don’t want to worry about installation or waste time solving problems with it - in this point copilot is currently perfect and it also has a pycharm / intelliJ plugin, something cursor doesn’t.

I would love to be informed in case you solve the installation for Ubuntu making it simpler and maintainable.

Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed feedback about the Linux installation experience! We’re actually working on some distribution changes right now that should make this process much smoother. I’ll pass your specific request for Snap support to the team - it might be possible soon

For now, you can grab the latest .AppImage from https://cursor.com/downloads, but I totally get that’s not the ideal experience you’re looking for

Any updates on the distribution changes you mention above? I too would subscribe if the installation/upgrade path was simpler on Ubuntu.
