First, I would like to thank you for developing such an incredible tool. Cursor AI has been a great addition to my workflow, and I truly appreciate the effort you’ve put into creating a seamless user experience.
As an Ubuntu user, I’ve noticed that Cursor AI is currently distributed as an AppImage. While this format is convenient, many Ubuntu users, including myself, would find it beneficial if a .deb package were also available. This would make the installation and integration with the system even more straightforward, particularly for those who rely on package managers like apt.
Providing a .deb package could potentially attract a broader audience and improve the adoption rate among Linux users.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I’m looking forward to seeing how Cursor AI evolves in the future.
This will hopefully be delivered soon! I also want to just have a deb file. It shouldn’t be hard, and it will be much better integrated with Linux (eg. for Ubuntu, Linux Mint users or alike).
Currently VSCode & Windsurf are also providing deb files, which works much better than AppImage. In Windsurf the application just automatically forks to the background. No weird issues in the virtual terminal of the editor itself. No need to manually create desktop files or whatever…
You guys sure like to make this complicated How do I get the latest url for the deb package. I just want to run a single command to automate the installation of the package.
