Pls have a enable auto updates setting .. true/false

Dear Cursor team,

Cursor is growing — and that’s great. It has a lot of strong potential. But like any evolving tool, it’s still in progress. Bugs will happen. There will be moments when users can’t work properly, or worse — when the agent breaks entire projects. That’s reality.

What’s missing is a way to roll back.
We need a simple toggle:
Enable/Disable Auto Updates.
Without it, we’re stuck — especially when a new release breaks workflows.

For example:
Version 1.3.0 caused major issues.
I reverted manually to an older version just to have it auto-update again after I closed Cursor. That’s frustrating. Time was wasted.

Please vote for this feature if you’ve been in the same boat.
Let’s make sure the tool we rely on doesn’t get in our way.

Hey, actually, you can disable auto-update in the settings.

This doesn’t work. I set it to none and it is still auto updating. Something is not right there.

This shouldn’t be happening. What do you have set in the update mode settings?

I tried to set to manual and then to none. Both of them doesn’t work.

Did you also restart Cursor? In my case, it works, but give me some time to check it. Also, could you let me know your Cursor version and your OS?

Yes, everytime I restart, it goes to v1.24. The version is displayed as v1.24(user setup). Not sure what does it mean by user setup. I need to use v1.17. My OS is win10.

Oh, I see, these settings don’t work on those versions of Cursor. Could you let me know why you need this specific version?

OK got it.
It is relating to compatibility issue in my local setup.
