They need to remove free usage to solve the problem. I can reset the machine id and use hundreds of accounts on the same computer. and without waiting. with 50 fast requests on each. I think you should remove free usage completely. Because you still can’t prevent this free usage. Tens of thousands of people are cheating and using it unlimitedly. Authorities should answer this message.

Closing free usage will have a huge blow to their marketing and they won’t grow as fast / won’t be able to raise more capital. Well at least that’s one way to look at it. Their biggest competitor has free usage and can burn through credits because of other revenue sources.
There are probably ways to make abuse harder, like always require a login and throttle new device registration per login once a day and 5 max for life or something like that. MFA on signup. Stricter geo login restrictions. Maybe tie new device registrations to MAC address, this should filter out a LOT of abusers.
There are so many youtube/tiktoks/tweets on how to get free cursor usage, it’s crazy. I bet many potential customers are asking themselves as to why they need to pay if most people don’t. I did - but I decided to pay since I wanted to support the team.

I paid too. But while I was waiting for minutes due to overload, people were using it for free without waiting. It is impossible for pro users to use it by waiting for minutes. If this problem is solved, I will pay again and buy pro.

I don’t know if it’s really because of the free abuse, but Pro should be on another infra and not influenced by what happens in free.

If 500 requests are finished and you use it intensively for another 2 days, it is still impossible to use the cursor. I will not buy pro until this problem is fixed. Cursor team needs to solve free abuse as soon as possible or stop the 500 nonsense. Also, I do not understand how github provides faster service for free. Someone authorized with Cursor needs to come here and write a proper answer.
That’s why I didn’t buy Cursor pro after the trial period, because I assume that this will happen again and again. Use ChatGPT in the number version and you won’t have any problems.

Valid point, I wait for over 5 minutes per ‘fast request’ for a response. Unacceptable.
