PSA: Latest update can WIPE OUT Cursor's global settings.json file -- BACK UP YOUR SETTINGS BEFORE UPDATING!

Describe the Bug

Refer to screenshot of output directly from Cursor after updating on 7/29.

7/29/2025 update caused this.

Additional Information

I had saved my profile settings (backed them up) 2 days prior and restored them from that. But now I’ve gone much farther and simply backed up my entire AppData\Roaming\Cursor folder AND my User.cursor folder just in case.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue
