Does this stop you from using Cursor
No - Cursor works, but with this issue
Hey, thanks for the report. This is a known Windows update issue that the team is actively working on.
Please try the following workarounds:
Close all Cursor processes: Open Task Manager → End all Cursor.exe processes (check the “Details” tab for background processes)
Add to antivirus exclusions: Add cursor.exe to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list
Fresh install: Download the latest version from Download · Cursor and run the installer
Let me know if any of these help.

Running a fresh install on top of existing won’t toast my settings?
No, all your settings are saved.

I did the install and it reflected the new version but when I loaded cursor back up today its back to the older version and asking to update (which doesnt work).
Which update channel do you have set in Cursor settings on the Beta tab?

Hey Dean,
I think it has something to do with User Setup vs System Setup. I have somehow ended up with both and if I use System the updates works but as soon as the update is done it defaults BACK to User setup. Then the locking starts. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the info, that’s very helpful.
