I’m seeking clarification on the what happens when upgrading from the annual Pro plan to Pro+ for a single month. On the Cursor forum I read, “Once you change your plan, your old subscription will be automatically refunded, prorated based on the unused period. The refund may take a few days to be processed and deposited by your payment provider.” However, I’m still struggling to comprehend whether I’ll receive a refund for the remaining balance of the annual plan ($16 per month multiplied by the number of unused months) or if I’ll retain the annual subscription and, upon upgrading for the month, be required to pay an additional approximately $44 per month ($16 per month from the annual subscription subtracted from the standard $60 per month Pro+ fee) to cover the Pro+ plan.
My intention is to maintain my annual plan, but I anticipate needing more credits this upcoming month. Therefore, I’d like to upgrade to Pro+ for a single month without losing my annual subscription. Additionally, I’m not subscribed to the old request-based annual plan; I’m subscribed to the current token-based annual plan, if that makes any difference.
Based on my experience, I was on an Annual Plan and upgraded to Pro+ on December 16th. As of today, December 30th, I still haven’t received a pro-rated refund for the unused period. Another issue I’ve encountered is that I lost my ‘unlimited auto’ status, which was a benefit of my previous annual plan.
In my case, I have already emailed [email protected], and I encourage you to do the same. If I receive a refund, I will update you here as well. Regarding maintaining your annual plan benefits, it is best to ask their support team directly, as I have not yet been billed for my Pro+ plan either.
Hey, thanks for the question. Unfortunately, the system doesn’t support a temporary upgrade while keeping your annual subscription. When you switch plans, the old subscription is canceled with a prorated refund.
Based on @Naufaldi_Rafif’s experience in this thread, there are some issues:
The prorated refund can take a few days
You lose annual plan benefits when you switch (for example, unlimited auto)
I’d recommend contacting [email protected] before making any changes and explaining your situation. Support can:
Explain exactly how plan changes work in your case
Confirm whether you’ll get a prorated refund
Tell you how to switch back to the annual plan after one month of Pro+
Another option: if you just need extra credits for a month, you can use on-demand usage.
Hi, I purchased an annual Pro subscription on September 13, 2025. I would like to cancel my subscription and request a prorated refund for the unused portion.
This shouldn’t possible. The yearly plan is offered at a discounted rate and is considered a yearly commitment, so it can’t be canceled once purchased.
ah, i meant to get at discount rate (16$ per month) for remaining 8month too if possible. Due to some reasons, i am not using cursor at all for few months at all, so((
isn’t there any ways? please, answer my request, i won’t be using Cursor for a year, so i need refund, even if at half-rated price for remaining 8 months?
