Removing agents sidebar on right

Somehow the the buttons in the top-right got messed up. The right sidebar button now toggles Agents, and not the Chat. I want the Chat back. I clicked something about enabling agent mode and now I can’t figure out how to disable this. I tried removing the keybinding for the sidebar which is set to CMD+OPT+S, but it still opens it when I click that button.
I tried reassigning ‘workbench.action.toggleAuxiliaryBar’ to that same key shortcut, but clicking the button still toggles the agent. I don’t want those agents or the sidebar. How do I restore this back to the right bar button toggling the chat? This is so frustrating. Thank you for your help.

hi @forged and welcome to Cursor Forum.

This is usually done with the Agent/Editor option as Agent has them on the left and Editor on the right.

Could you try to change that again by clicking on the gear icon?

Which Cursor version do you use?

Thanks for the reply.

I want the old version, with

Left side bar: folder tree

Middle-top: editor

Middle-bottom: console

Right side bar: chat

The problem arose when the “Right side bar” icon button no longer opened/closed chat, but instead started opening/closing the agent side bar. I don’t want that agent sidebar. I’ve attached a video. That top-right button toggles the agent tab, I don’t want that. It uses to toggle the chat.

@forged you can keep using the Editor view and ignore the right sidebar.

The View menu offers the Secondary Side Bar option to turn Chat on/off. You can also set a keyboard shortcut for that.

I ran into this too. It seems like a UI bug where when you change to agent mode and then change back to editor mode, it does not truly reverse it.

FIX: Go to command palette (Ctrl+Shift+P) and search ‘Swap agent sidebar location’. Ctrl+E might also work as it is the default key-binding for it.

It seems like Cursor has finally figured out that it was an issue and has fixed it. This is what the latest version shows for me now.
