CMD + L previously directly opened chat window without preserving old state. Now i have to CMD + L, click on a new chat option, and then start typing. Or give user option to change this behaviour. Thank you.

Hi, cmd+shift+L will open a new chat (or if content is highlighted, open the new chat with that content). We’ll be adding a lot more keybinding configuration in the next update to make this behavior easier to change for users.

Hey, you can try the shortcut Cmd + Shift + N to open a new chat.
