Signed up for new account but asking to upgrade immediately

Thanks for reporting a bug you have found in Cursor!
Please add the following info to help us diagnose your issue:

I signed up for a free account and almost immediately get a message: “Too many free trial accounts used on this machine. Please upgrade to pro. We have this limit in place to prevent abuse. Please let us know if you believe this is a mistake.”

The only thing I did was clicked on “Open Project” and uploaded an empty folder.

This is my first signup.

Exact same problem here - just signed up, first ever install, wanting to try out cursor and potentially move over from PyCharm Pro…immediately given that same error message. Contacted Cursor and just received a cookie-cutter dismissal repeating the “too many trial accounts on the machine” justification - not a great look for Cursor tbh
