Slow auto mode ! and it works fine when i switch to one model

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

the auto mode is slow af. its like its on purpose to get you to upgrade. i think this because when i select a model - its works fast af. october was fine but since 2.0 this has been an unmitigated shitshow.

Steps to Reproduce

see the difference between ANY model and auto one. the difference between october and november(2.0) is crazy.

Expected Behavior

october like fast pre 2.0✌🏼

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

second to latest version

For AI issues: which model did you use?

composer and claude 4.5 sonnet

  • The exact Cursor version: Help > About Cursor > Copy (instead of something like “almost the latest”)
  • The Request ID for both the slow response in auto mode and the fast response when you use a specific model. You can get these from the chat menu (top right) > “Copy Request ID” for the latest requests. More details: Getting a Request ID | Cursor Docs
  • A time comparison: roughly how long it takes to get a response in auto mode compared to using a specific model for the same type of request
