Sonnet 3.5 has me spoiled (what to use for inline editor?)

I have my setup configured to use GPT-4o mini for CTRL-K inline editing, but it’s just terrible at coding compared to Claude Sonnet 3.5. Today I asked it to do a relatively simple task, just centering a square on top of another square, but it couldn’t figure out how to calculate the offset. I know that LLMs tend to be bad at math but Claude had no problem whatsoever with this task.

Now I don’t know how I ever coded before Sonnet 3.5. It’s seriously the single biggest game changer in my coding career.

I’m considering switching my inline editor to using Sonnet 3.5 as well. It’ll burn through requests like crazy, but I just can’t deal with 4o mini’s mistakes. What are people using for their inline editor?

I am in the same boat, and I can say that it sucks. Mini is really bad against Sonnet, but slow requests are bad too. I tried Cody with “unlimited requests” but it seems like Cody is just not good with UI and context sizes. It seems like this industry became “Pay again and again or use trash”

Have you tried this model yet?

No, but I hope to try it soon! I hope Cursor adds it for long context chat. I use long context chat on most days now.
