šŸ‘Øā€šŸŽ“ Student Discount - Details, Updates, Q&As

Same here

Hi Cursor Team,

I’m from Egypt and studying at Ainshams university.
I want to get on year of free Cursor Pro by student email but Egypt isn’t included in Country list.
And this is the domain of my university @cis.asu.edu.eg
Thanks a lot.

I am a Bangladeshi student, and if this offer is available to us, it would be very beneficial. We could contribute a lot to development from Bangladesh. Is it possible to open this offer in Bangladesh?

Hi I’m a canadian student. recently i successfully passed the verification but still cannot apply the discount.

I’m a Spain student and got my account verified by SheerID but the apply discount button does not work. My email is @edu.uah.es so I don’t understand…

The collaboration between your team and the SheerID support team has been incredibly frustrating. My university is on your list, yet I got the ā€œVerification Limit Exceededā€ error. I contacted SheerID support as you instructed. What they did is just throwing me an ā€œunable to process my verification processā€ reply, and let me contact you instead. Then my request was closed.

Since both of your team and sheerID keep directing users to each other, I guess the only one left for me to contact is god.

Seriously though, this kind of back-and-forth with no resolution is exhausting. Someone needs to take ownership of the issue instead of bouncing users around.

Dear Cursor Team,

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for developing and providing such an outstanding product. I understand that Cursor has not yet officially entered the Chinese market, but I would like to offer a suggestion: would your team consider providing dedicated support for university students in China? This initiative could help more students gain access to your product while laying a solid foundation for your future expansion in the Chinese market.

Cursor has a large potential user base in China, particularly among university students. They are highly receptive to new technologies and tools, and are eager to explore innovative products. More importantly, these students may become loyal users of Cursor in the future and could even introduce the product into enterprise environments once they enter the workforce, further expanding Cursor’s market influence.

I suggest that your team consider offering educational discounts for Chinese university students. This would lower the barrier to entry and allow more students to experience the power of Cursor. If there are concerns about potential abuse of such discounts, local identity verification methods could be used. For example, collaboration with Alipay’s student verification system—which is widely adopted and highly efficient in China—could effectively prevent misuse. I also noticed that Cursor currently supports Alipay payments, which suggests that your team already has some awareness of and interest in the Chinese market. Further collaboration along these lines would be a wise and strategic move.

In addition, I recommend exploring partnerships with Chinese universities and organizing online or offline seminars to promote Cursor’s features and benefits among students. This would not only enhance Cursor’s brand recognition in China but also provide valuable insights into local user needs, enabling more targeted product improvements.

These are some of my humble suggestions, which I hope will serve as useful references. Please pardon any presumptions in my message. Once again, thank you for your attention to users and your continuous support. I look forward to seeing Cursor benefit even more users in China in the future.

Wishing you continued success and a thriving business! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Just passing by to say thank you to the Cursor team for revisiting the decision and restoring my student access, as well as that of many others.

It’s good to see the company acknowledge the situation and take steps to fix the issue after the confusion caused. Mistakes happen, but what really matters is how they’re handled.

Appreciate the transparency and the effort to improve the verification process moving forward.

@danperks, there’s still a subset of students whose issue has not been addressed. Before the country restrictions came in, some students (myself included) went through the process and duly got verified by SheerID with a link to apply the discount, but the discount was never applied. Then came the restrictions, which removed our countries and universities from the list. We’re already verified, so could the issue of the discount not being applied be fixed? I sent mail to [email protected] 4 days ago and was told somebody would pick up the ticket to fix it, but there is nothing yet as of today.

my country is not Listed, Philippines any one can help me please. thank you

i m a Chinese student,and i really need student discount,but alway these error:

We are unable to verify you at this time. If you believe you received this in error, please contact SheerID support.

This situation is exactly similar to my case. Despite currently studying at a U.S. institution included on Cursor’s approved list

In China, there is the ā€œOnline Verification Code of the Academic Credentials Network,ā€ which allows you to verify student identities through such manual scanning. Otherwise, you will face disturbances from Photoshop’s falsified documents and the requirement for students to enable location services and connect to the corresponding school’s VPN when submitting information. It would be best if assistance is provided.

same but my account does not end in .edu

Same here, did you have the solution or send email to the official?

The "Apply Discount " button just redirect to cursor.com/setting and the discount doesn’t apply .

My country Israel is Eligible.

Same problem, it is verified, and everything good just it did not apply discount, how to fix this?

Same here. I also study in Germany, got a non ā€œ.eduā€ email address. The verification with sheerID is successful, however, when applying the discount, I get redirected to the settings tab.

This is the reply from the customer support:
ā€œā€¦the student discount is currently only available to students with a .edu email address. We’re working hard with our partners to bring this to more students soon!ā€

Hope this will get solved

Hi,
So I made the dumb mistake of doing the verification with the wrong cursor account before I realized.

I tryed to undo the process and restart on the right account but I would get The ā€œVerification Limit Exceededā€ error. So I proceeded and completed the verification process but I didn’t get the pro discount of course.

I tried contacting [email protected] support and the AI is telling me that there’s nothing they can do and they can’t restart the student verification on a new account basically. Is there anything else I can do? I’m surprised by this response as I would think they would have control over this.
I saw some other comments here that were in the same situation, I Hope there’s a resolution for it!

i’m a student in france i verified my status with shareid got the confirmation mail and the apply discount button
but it just sends me to your homepage and nothing happens
turns out your system only works if you have a .edu email
well in france we don’t use .edu and most of europe doesn’t either
so basically your ā€œinternationalā€ student plan excludes everyone who’s not in the US

also your support is just some ai bot named sam that keeps replying with useless stuff no way to talk to a real person
i was paying for pro already but now i just feel like canceling and switching to windsurf

fix this please at least let verified students get the plan no matter the email domain right now this whole thing feels like a joke
