I’m currently going through this situation myself, so I wanted to share my experience as well.
I originally subscribed under the legacy 500 Fast Requests/month plan and relied heavily on its predictability. When my subscription auto-renewed, my account was automatically transitioned to the new API-based usage model without me intentionally switching plans myself.
What surprised me most was that I did not notice any clear warning that the core billing/request structure of my plan would fundamentally change upon renewal. I only realized after the renewal had already happened.
I’ve contacted support and requested a manual review because, from my perspective, this was not an intentional migration that I explicitly agreed to.
I’m really curious whether other users experienced the same thing, especially:
whether anyone managed to keep the legacy 500 requests after renewal
whether the transition happened immediately
and whether anyone received clearer notice beforehand
Just today, I was automatically enrolled into the new api‑renew plan, even though I didn’t take any action myself. This feels quite strange because I didn’t receive any prior notice or warning. The system simply moved me off the legacy plan on its own.
I encountered the same situation. After the automatic renewal, I was moved to a new plan.
When I inquired via email, they rejected my request to keep the original 500-request quota package and instead issued a refund in a very abrupt manner.
Update: I was finally moved from the legacy student/500 requests plan to the new usage-based Pro plan today.
I cancelled as soon as I noticed the migration, but I was still charged for May. I’ve contacted Cursor support to request cancellation confirmation and a refund.
So yes, at least in my case, the legacy plan did not continue after the student plan ended.
The 500 requests/month legacy pricing is unfortunately no longer available and can’t be restored. Since your annual plan renewed today with no usage in the new billing period, I’ve gone ahead and processed a full refund and cancellation.
Your subscription has been refunded and cancelled. The refund should appear in your account within 5-10 days, and you won’t be charged going forward.
