Well, at least that’s my optimistic view on the whole crocodile deathroll thing sheerid has got us in. especially if they’re charging minimum is roughly $1.25 per verification. pity the internet doesn’t give us a breakdown of their rates for each type of verification that they do.
imagine repeated failed verification for millions of students through sheerid if they had gone with InCommon/Shibboleth on student email confirmation as layer 1 and followed with sheerid as student validation layer 2 because student email confirmation isn’t the same as active student verification… a person can have a student email long after leaving an institution for various reasons that are not connected to any active pursuit of a degree seeking program…
imagine… a mil users failing verification…repeatedly. I’d love to be sheerid in those moments
My educational institution is in the United States with .edu, but I’m abroad. During the reverification process, they asked me for a document to validate. I chose my passport, which shows me the front and back. My passport only has the front and back information, and the back doesn’t have any additional details. I still sent both sides, and it was rejected. I contacted Sheerid by email, but I haven’t heard back in several days.
yes adamm, correct me so that everyone sees the many gaps in Cursor/Sheerid’s own documentation and process flows that have been repeatedly posted in various ways across forums
read my other post too . you might find something else there that tickles your palate. it would benefit everyone
Same situation here. On day 1, I could verify with my ac.kr domain (not .edu) and gmail.com that I use as a primary account.
I used to get a student discount a few times but now I cannot reverify because it’s not .edu ID and also the reverification limit & overdue is showing like all others.
Some background: After day 1, Cursor decided to remove South Korea from the list and my student discount had been nullified, but after emailing cursor they decided to keep the initial student discount applicants in - whether or not they are from Korea or has done the verification using non-.edu domain.
I only got student discount for like 2 times ince May. I upgraded to Cursor Pro Plus and it seems like it didn’t get me the discount I deserve. Let bygones be bygones and I want to get student discount starting now, that’s all I ask.
I missed the re-verification notice on Cursor, and I cannot find the verification email in my inbox. Could you please help me complete the student re-verification process?
Why did I receive a verification email, but after clicking “Reverify Your Status Now,” the page shows: “Offer Sold Out! Due to tremendous demand, the offer is no longer available. Please check tomorrow to see if it is available.” What is the reason for this?
Hi, I have met the same issue which is I missed the deadline. I received the SheerID’s email on Sep 18, and I was on a leave so I didn’t re verify that time, and a deadline was not mentioned on that email. When I attempted to reverify yesterday, I got the error “Offer Sold Out!
Due to tremendous demand, the offer is no longer available. Please check tomorrow to see if it is available.”
I wonder if there is anything I can do now to resolve this issue?
Hi!
Im also facing issue with my verification. I did it while back, run into issues and just paid for subscription since I needed it right away. I wanted to give it another go recently, and it seems like I’m verified and SheerID confirmed it:
I have problem verifying my sheerID, i received a mail from cursor to verify my student status, and it asked me to upload my government id, as I am an international student so i upload my passport, and it immediately rejected me and said cannot verify my id. I contacted SheerID, and they just asked me to submit request for my government ID, while i don`t have any place to submit. How could I verify my student status?
I activated my student license before a university email address was required on my free plan account with my personal mail, and the SheerID alone was enough. Now I am being asked to re-verify, but I cannot do so because I get an error message saying that the email address is invalid. However, there is no option to change the email address in my account so that I can change it to my university email address.
