Suggestion for an Affordable Subscription Plan

Feature request for product/service

Billing

Describe the request

As a user from Algeria, I would gladly keep an active subscription if a lower-cost plan with limited usage were available.

I would like to suggest introducing a lower-cost

subscription plan, around $5 per month, for light or occasional users.

The current paid plan offers excellent value, but many users do not use Cursor every month or only need it occasionally. A more affordable plan with limited monthly usage, credits, or requests would encourage long-term subscriptions.

Users who need more intensive usage could upgrade to a higher plan directly within the application or purchase additional credits when needed.

This would make Cursor more accessible to students, independent developers, and users in countries where software subscriptions represent a significant expense.

I believe such a plan would increase user retention and attract more paying customers.

Hey, thanks for the detailed feature request. The request for a more affordable plan for infrequent users makes sense, and we hear you. I’ll keep the thread open so the community can vote and comment.

A couple quick notes on what we have today:

  • We don’t have a separate low-cost individual plan around $5/month yet, and I can’t share a timeline for it.
  • If you’re a student, we have a program that gives you Pro for free for 12 months after verification with a school email ending in .edu: Student discount | Cursor Docs

If you can share specific usage scenarios in the thread like how many requests you realistically need per month and which models, please add them. That kind of detail helps us evaluate requests like this.
