That’s quite strange. Have you tried starting a new chat and restarting Cursor?
Ah, starting a new chat did the trick! (Restarting Cursor alone didn’t help).

If anyone still has an issue, please look at possible solutions here, like starting new chat.
I’m still encoutering that issue, at least for all the new models. What model id do you use for Sonet 4 and Opus 4?
claude-4-sonnet and claude-4-sonnet-thinking are the models in cursor settings.
Did you restart Cursor and started a new chat?
All of a sudden this appears again. Worked the whole day until now

I don’t understand, as a Free user of Cursor with my Anthropic API key, I cannot use Claude 4 (sonnet or opus)?
I have tried two things:
- Directly put the model name from the documentation: /docs/about-claude/models/overview so
claude-sonnet-4-20250514and I get this message:
- Directly use the model
claude-4-sonnetdisplayed in the Cursor settings and I get this message:
Anthropic’s latest models are currently only available to paid users. Please upgrade to a paid plan to use these models.
What did I do wrong?

No, I don’t have a Pro subscription to Cursor. I specifically want to use only my Anthropic API with the claude-sonnet-4-20250514 version of their API.
Im having the same issue but with all models using an openrouter api key.

i would not advise max or api usage mode unless you want to spend 50 dollars in an hour. they have done something irresponsible in implementation.
Same here. Paying for Cursor pro version solely to use it with Claude 4 Opus, which is not available. So a waste of money, with zero customer support and no refund.
