Uninstall leads to errors in my Office 2016 / links do not work anymore

Out of curiosity I installed version 0.42.3 of cursor.
I did not activate or login, cancelled when login screen came up. I didn’t have the time and wanted to try later.
One day atfer deinstallation I noticed I was not able to click links in emails displayed in my email-client (outlook 2016) anymore. No URLs, no mailto-links, nothing.
Also not in any Office 2016 product.
(yes, I know … It’s from the company)
The error message was:
Your organization’s policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk.

I did not connect this issue with cursor so I tred to do everything the internet gave me, nothing worked. I spent 2 hours trying everything, including registry-edits.
I almost gave up, then I remembered my cursor installation.
As soon as i installed cursor again, the error was gone. Test-uninstalled it and the error was there again.

I even did a registry snapshot before and after deinstallation but I did not find any suspicious entries.

What registry-keys are you setting exactly? I did not have this problem with vs-code (uninstalled a couple of months ago, I am using jetbrains as my IDE)

Hi @Mehl

Hmm, that’s really strange behavior, seems like we haven’t run into this yet. What version of Windows are you using?

I am using Windows 10, 22H2, Build 19045.5011

Sorry for the late reply. It seems I don’t get notificatrions for this post. My doublöe-opt-in email never arrived and I was only able to login via “forgot password”-option. .
