What are premium tool calls in usage-based pricing?

Are premium tool calls all the tool calls from premium models (any type of tool call)?
Or anything else is regarded as a premium tool call?

Anyone?

Hey, no, tool calls are only counted from the Claude Max and Gemini Max models, where each tool call also costs 5 cents. You can read the details here:

Still the question lingers, what in the heck is a tool call? MCP?

Very confusing terms and UIs.

This tool calls are ultra-expansive. Good to know that they comes from this Max models, I’m going to avoid them.

I totally agree. One request cost me $0.8, and I’m starting to think Max models are secretly funding my coffee habit.

I just learned my lesson too. One Claude request = $1.10 in tool calls.

I ve just realized that too. This is clearly robbery. They never mentioned it transparently. I thought they were charging only 0.05 per request.
It seems max models can spend 2-3$ per request and tool calls.

Windsurf is like old Cursor and Cursor is like old windsurf anymore. Slow premiums are not a feature but a bug . Cursor hide real prices behind the 20$. You cant even use max models in any package. It is really weird. o4-mini api price is the same with o3-mini for example but it is 4 times expensive than o3-mini.

They compete with each other but quality is getting worse every day. It is not promising for the future. I hope google make a real editor for developers without hiding anything
