Did Cursor change the usage rules again? IIRC, the usage summary dashboard used to say something like “Auto usage doesn’t count”, but now it’s gone. Starting today, it seems that tokens are always counted when I use Auto mode

hi @rizkyduut and thank you for your detailed post.
No, Auto mode is not charged, but it is displayed for reference and comparison with all included models and costs. There was also no change in pricing since the last big announcements.
Could you please explain what you mean with ‘its now gone’?
The last line of the text in my cited screenshot was removed from the site. Unclear why.
Thanks for the info, I cant see any changes from the post versions (mostly just tags)
“Unclear why” Cursor team wipe that text line about Auto usage count, which was on the Usage page earlier.
Hey, the line was removed as it was causing some confusion, but Auto remains free of charge for users on all paid plans!
I’m very confused.
$33.81 + $22.83 + $1.33 + $0.84 (auto) + $0.38 = $59.19.
So I have $60 of budget per cycle. Auto deducts from the $60 of budget?
@mokhir Dan mentioned that its not charged, it shows on the list for reference of usage that is included in the plan. All plans receive more than the plan fee in usage.
It seems that removing the line about “auto requests not counting towards monthly usage limits” would actually create more confusion than less. They could have added another column that was for API Costs not towards limits, or have Auto usage separated from the chart entirely. How could people not get confused when auto usage is added up monetarily with the rest of the request costs and the only line that could help explain how auto usage was handled is removed? I’m afraid this is just Cursor inching towards pulling the rug on unlimited Auto as well. Removing almost all references to “unlimited” auto requests seems a bit suspicious.
Examples (red outlines show the removed text):
Earlier this month, Cursor – Models & Pricing
Check https://web.archive.org/, you can always look back and see exactly what they edited.
Thats what I did.
Good.
In the future, they should update their blog or send an in-app alert about any pricing changes, not just quietly adjust things on the backend. That’s industry standard.
They should also add a banner at the top of the forum for any major updates, so no one misses important information.
Why remove “auto requests not counting towards monthly usage limits”? Does this imply that auto will be charged in the future? This is truly a huge step backward.
That’s what i have observed too . I had a discussion on this with their support team and as per them, auto mode charges 1 request
@sufyanshoaib Are you by any chance on the Legacy Pro plan as the new plan does not count requests.
yes I am on legacy pro plan, but isn’t it was always free on Auto mode?
I will check this, as legacy plan has already 500 requests included regardless of context used per request.
