Now, to close the chat panel and reopen it, I have to switch to edit mode.
Then I have to manually click a button to switch back.
Have you not considered the user experience at all?
Hi,

This button is used so infrequently, it used to be Ctrl+Alt+B here.
Why did I change it like this ? I’ve been hoping this would be fixed with every update.
This is causing me a lot of friction too. I very frequently use the panel toggle in the top right to hide the current chat session when I am reviewing diffs or doing something else where I want maximum real estate for the file I am editing. This completely breaks my workflow now that the toggle controls the agent sidebar but has no effect on the current chat window. I now need to close the chat windows if I want that space in my editor and then when I want to re-open it I need to open the agents panel and find the current chat session and re-open it.
I’m sure this change is great for most people, but it adds a lot of friction to my workflow.
I’m opted into early-release btw. Here’s to hoping that you guys revert this or find another way to restore the previous chat UI.
Just to add to my last message with some ideas for how this could be fixed easily.
With these updates the panel toggle in the top right toggles the “Agents” panel. In order to toggle the “Chat” panel I need to click the gear icon in the top right, or use Ctl+Alt+A. This could be easily fixed on the user side if we were able to change the binding of that panel toggle so that we could have it toggle the chat panel instead of the agent panel. For people like me who don’t have an agent focused workflow, we could use the gear icon or hotkeys to toggle the agent panel.
So this would basically allow us to flip the behavior of that panel toggle so that it toggles the chat instead of the agents. From what I have seen there is no way to re-assign that panel toggle at this time.
Thanks for the work you guys are doing.
