Why my chat history is blank every time I close and reopen Cursor?

I have the same exact issue. When I open cursor, whatever chat I was having before I last closed it is gone. When I click the chat history button, it only shows the new chat it just then started. I’m running on Windows 10. Any suggestions?

Can you confirm you are inside a project and not just in an empty Cursor window?
A project (or workspace) is when you open a folder in Cursor, then Cursor can store the chats related to that project.
I’m in an opened folder, I don’t see project under the File menu.
Ok let me help by sharing a screenshot.
A project is any folder that you open in Cursor.
a) If you are not in a project then the screen looks like this. Using chat here will not store the chat. You can open a project, or clone a Git repo. (open allows you to create folder as well)
b) when you are in a project like this, it stores the chat related to the project

Of course, I just tried it again and now it worked. I’ll make more observations to try to figure out when it works and when it fails.
