Clear PII/usernames from Cursor Tab suggestions

Hey Cursor team,

I 've been using Cursor for almost a year now, and big fan of the product, team community even with the challenges that are always hitting us on the Anthropic limits, bad days with composer etc … And while I try as much as I can to avoid sharing keys, PII, etc specially on agentic and terminal outputs shared in debugging, I know there is occasional leakage, trusting you do the right thing, and I have no doubts of the priorities and focus.

I realized with the new Fusion Model for Cursor Tab the suggestion including Mac Os usernames like shown in this image. Would be nice to add a cleaning of this ( an other common paths ) replacing for geek and funny names, maybe Disney wouldn’t allow to use The Star Wars characters but I am sure you can find something useful.

in this image you see “joaomoura” that could be personal usernames or maybe
a hommage to João (Joe) Moura - crewAI | LinkedIn the cool brazilian that built crew.ai agentic framework,
or just licensed training data…

keep up the good work,

Thanks,
Páris

Thanks for the feedback and for being a long-time user! You raise a good point about the username suggestions. Just to clarify - tab suggestions aren’t stored once the request is completed, so there’s no risk of data leaking long-term.

While we take privacy and security super seriously, adding real-time data cleansing would likely make tab suggestions much slower, so it’s not something we’re planning in the near term

For now, the best way to handle sensitive data is by enabling Privacy Mode in settings (Cursor – Privacy). This ensures your code isn’t stored by Cursor or third parties

And yeah, the username is just a hallucination here- not specifically related to João from crewAI (though crew.ai is pretty cool!)
