Codex not usuable anymore, requests always fail since yesterday

As soon as I try to use “gpt5-codex” as model for any mode I get this almost immediately since yesterday, other models are working fine:

“We’re having trouble connecting to the model provider. This might be temporary - please try again in a moment.”

Steps to Reproduce

Send any kind of prompt with “gpt5-codex” as model.

Expected Behavior

Returns a response like other models

Additional Information

I uninstalled Cursor, deleted old chats, created new tabs, all of this didn’t help to fix the issue. I also ran the network diagnostics, everything finishes with a green check. All other models I tried work as well. Tried as well to switch to HTTP 1.1 and restarted Curso, issue persists.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

I can confirm the same issue
any of gpt models are unusable for now…

Thank you for confirming this, since I saw no other forum post here I thought it’s really just me for whatever reason that I can’t explain yet.

Hey, thanks for the report. We’re seeing similar gpt-5-codex connection issues from other users over the past few days and we’re working on this model’s performance.

As a temporary workaround, other GPT-5 variants gpt-5-high, gpt-5-medium should work normally for now.

I’m getting the issue also. I also opened a bug report. Happens while using Chat gpt-5 codex
