Hi ! I’m having a ‘Connection Failed.’ issue for the past week when using the chat. If I use Ctrl + K it works, it is only failing on Ctrl + L. It started happening after I reinstalled Cursor (As I was having lag from using it)
I checked the Console with the Developer Tools Activated and its showing an error: workbench.desktop.main.js:21968 ConnectError: [internal] unable to get local issuer certificate
Yes, I’m using an OpenAI API key, which I refreshed to rule out any issues with the key itself. I also tried using the free version without the API key and with different models, but the issue remains the same. The error displayed is consistently “Connection Failed,” and the console shows the same error: ConnectError: [internal] unable to get local issuer certificate.
I’m using a work VPN, but I tested it by deactivating the VPN, and the error persists. I don’t think the VPN is the cause since I’ve been using it for over a year without any issues. The problem started about two weeks ago when I reinstalled Cursor due to performance lag on my PC.
For reference, here is the version of Cursor I’m currently using [image attached].
Also, the fact that the Ctrl + K (Open edit mode) works is odd to me as it shows that there are no Internet connection issues.
Could this issue be related to the reinstallation or a possible certificate update? Is there a specific certificate that Cursor relies on that I need to check? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I previously had ZScaler installed from another project, but it has been completely uninstalled. I also checked the requested settings (see attached image).
However, the same error is appearing in the Console when I try to chat:
workbench.desktop.main.js:2774 ConnectError: [internal] unable to get local issuer certificate
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the logs show nothing in the specified folder.
Is there a way to perform a hard reset of the app? Even after reinstalling, the chat history is still visible.
