Cursor 2.0 In app browser is not opening website

Describe the Bug

The In-app browser is not opening any website. The browser returns Connection Failed error.

Steps to Reproduce

  • From the tools tab, select “Browser Tab”
  • In the In-app browse, type the localhost URL. In my case http://localhost:8080
  • The browser returns Connection failed error
  • I also tried to open other websites but all the websites are returing same error
  • Confirmed in Chrome that the localhost:8080 is working and accessible

Expected Behavior

  • In-app browser should open localhost website

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Same experience - tested on Windows 11 with WSL2 and on mac. Same problem with localhost sites.

stopped working for me in the middle of session. LLM was convinced, too, that it was not possible. Despite having solved many issues thanks to it, before.

The chat is unable to interact with the browser. It keeps showing Failed to execute tool browser_snapshot
