Cursor logged me out, reset my setup, and wiped conversation access

Hey, thanks for the report. Unfortunately, this is a known issue that affects multiple users.

Try restoring from a backup:

  1. Fully close Cursor
  2. Go to %APPDATA%\Cursor\User\globalStorage
  3. Check the file sizes of state.vscdb and state.vscdb.backup
  4. If the backup file is larger, rename it to state.vscdb (make a copy of the current file first)
  5. Start Cursor

One user reported a successful restore using this method.

For the future, I recommend:

  • Regularly using Export Chat for important conversations
  • Backing up the %APPDATA%\Cursor\User\globalStorage folder
